“HUBBARD KEYBOARD INSTRUMENTS”, 1982 ORIGINAL VINTAGE COLOR LITHOGRAPH POSTER BY THE AMERICAN GRAPHIC ARTIST AND PRINTMAKER DAVID LANCE GOINES (1945-2023) This amazing color lithograph poster designed and printed by DAVID LANCE GOINES in 1982 for Hubbard Keyboard Instruments, Waltham, MA is an excellent example of the artist’s graphic work. The poster sheet size is 24 1/16 x 18 1/16 inches. The poster comes unframed. PLEASE NOTE CONDITION: There is evidence of very very light toning, otherwise the poster is in very fine vintage condition, with no tears or any damage to the image. David Lance Goines was born in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1945. He was the oldest of eight children. His mother taught him calligraphy and introduced him to the fundamentals of design. Later, he picked up printmaking as a teenager in Oakland, California. Goines came of age during the Free Speech Movement and his fine arts posters became emblematic of numerous Berkeley institutions. After making his first poster for Chez Panisse in 1972, a seminal design of a red-haired friend of Alice Waters holding a wine glass, the restaurant skyrocketed to fame. Goines’ posters became inseparable from the restaurant’s visual brand. Over more than four decades, his illustrations have become both iconic and seemingly ubiquitous in the city, his trademark posters defining the many Berkeley institutions for which he designed: Acme Bread Company, Velo Bicycle, UC Berkeley, and the city’s public library. His impact also extended far beyond Berkeley. His long career has left a distinctive mark in the history of graphic arts. ____________________________ ATTENTION!
